You'll practise navigating busier A-roads such as Kingsbury Road and Slade Road, work through multi-lane roundabouts, tackle bus-lane sections, and get comfortable with the busier junctions that connect Short Heath into neighbouring Erdington and Gravelly Hill. These are exactly the kinds of roads that feature on real driving tests, so every lesson builds directly transferable skills.

Learners in this area are well placed to sit their practical driving test at either the Kingstanding Driving Test Centre or the Lichfield Driving Test Centre — the Sutton Coldfield test centre has now permanently closed. Your instructor will make sure you have plenty of experience on the types of roads used around both centres before your test day arrives.

Secondary schools in this part of North Birmingham include Stockland Green School (B23) and Erdington Academy in nearby B24. We're happy to collect you from either school for your lesson — but to keep things running smoothly we ask that pickups are booked outside of morning start-of-day and afternoon home-time, when the roads around school gates are at their busiest. Mid-morning slots, lunchtime, or after after-school clubs are ideal and usually mean you get on your way faster too.
